A non-governmental and not-for-profit developmental organization founded by Tigrayan students of the diaspora in January 2026 for the charitable purpose of developing the Tigray Region across all pillars of Tigrayan society.
Who We Are
Founded by Tigrayan students who refused to watch from the sidelines.
Vanguard Tigray was founded in January 2026 by Tigrayan students in the diaspora who wanted to take direct action to help rebuild and develop the Tigray Region.
We're not a traditional NGO with layers of bureaucracy. We're a grassroots movement of young people committed to making real, measurable change in our homeland through transparent, community-led development.
Our approach focuses on six critical areas: public health, sanitation, education, agriculture, industrial development, and cultural preservation. We work directly with communities to understand needs and implement sustainable solutions.

The Reality in Tigray
The Tigray Region has faced years of conflict that have devastated infrastructure across all sectors. Hospitals lack basic medical supplies. Schools don't have books or materials. Water systems are damaged or destroyed. Agricultural production has collapsed. Families struggle daily to meet basic needs.
While international attention has moved elsewhere, the needs remain urgent. Government support is limited and unreliable. That's why grassroots organizations like ours are critical—we work directly with communities to fill gaps that larger institutions leave behind.
We can't solve every problem, but we can make real, measurable progress in the six areas we've chosen to focus on. That's what drives us forward every day.
